This last week my schedule was a little off, and my work week started on Monday instead of Tuesday.  So Monday morning I walked to the church and as I cut through the Peace Garden to get to the downstairs door, the sign over the church door was different.  Instead of saying Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ, it said, in big letters, “THE INN,” and below in smaller print it said, “La Posada: God’s house of refuge and hospitality.”

Third Sunday of Advent

You’re never going to believe what happened to me this week.  I was trudging through the snow to go to church Tuesday morning, thanking God for the beautiful day that God had given us, and I arrived at the downstairs entrance to the church and noticed the sign was different.  Instead of saying Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ, it said, “The Inn: God’s house of hospitality and refuge.  La Posada.”  I stood staring at the sign, having the vague feeling that this had happened before, and the door opened. 

Standing in the doorway was a man with long white hair, wild eyes and bushy eyebrows.  He had on an orange t-shirt that said Sting on the front and the shirts had all these pictures of a guy playing a guitar.  The man was wearing Bermuda shorts with sandals, and he was carrying a tray filled with small glass bottles...read more
